How We Find a Surrogate Mother
June 2025

At Surrogate Mexico, we understand that choosing the person who will carry your future child is one of the most important and emotional decisions in the surrogacy process. That’s why our method for finding the ideal surrogate mother is rigorous, ethical, and deeply human. It’s not just a medical evaluation—it’s a comprehensive process designed to protect both surrogates and intended parents, ensuring a safe, respectful, and transparent experience for everyone involved.
In this blog post, we explain step by step how we identify, select, and prepare the women who participate as surrogate mothers in our program—and why this process makes a key difference in the quality and success of our treatments.
Step 1 – Outreach and Initial Contact
Everything begins with an open call for women interested in becoming surrogates. We use digital media and social networks to reach potential candidates in different parts of Mexico, especially in regions where we have care centers and specialized teams.
From the very beginning, we make it clear that being a surrogate is a voluntary, informed decision based on the desire to help others fulfill their dream of forming a family.
Once a woman expresses interest, we conduct an initial phone or video call where we explain the process in detail, including requirements, medical and legal conditions, and the type of support she will receive throughout the entire experience.
Step 2 – Initial Medical Evaluation
The next stage is a general medical evaluation, which includes:
- Full medical history
- Physical examination
- Laboratory tests (HIV, hepatitis, STDs, hormonal profile, among others)
- Gynecological studies (ultrasound, pap smear, etc.)
To be considered a candidate, the woman must meet certain fundamental criteria:
- Be between 25 and 37 years old
- Have had at least one healthy pregnancy and a complication-free delivery
- Have no history of chronic or genetic diseases
- Be in good physical and mental health
Step 3 – Psychological and Socioemotional Evaluation
One of the pillars of our process is the surrogate’s emotional well-being. That’s why we carry out a thorough psychological evaluation, including individual interviews, projective tests, and clinical scales.
Our goal is to ensure that the surrogate:
- Fully understands the process and its implications
- Is emotionally stable and has a support network
- Is not motivated by external pressure or urgent financial need
- Has clarity about the type of relationship she does or does not want to have with the intended parents
We also assess her support system, including the opinion of her partner (if any), close relatives, and family context.
Step 4 – Legal Evaluation and Consent Signing
Once the previous stages have been completed, the candidate is presented with a clear and detailed contract, prepared by our legal team, outlining the rights, obligations, responsibilities, and scope of the process.
The candidate must read, review, and sign it with full understanding. We also offer legal counseling so she can resolve any doubts with an external attorney if she wishes.
Legal transparency is essential for building a trusting relationship between all parties.
Step 5 – Final Selection and Matching with Intended Parents
Once a woman is approved as a surrogate, we begin the matching process with intended parents. This step is as emotional as it is technical and is carried out by considering:
- Mutual preferences (level of communication, type of desired relationship, etc.)
- Emotional and cultural compatibility
- Availability and timing
The first meeting may be in person or virtual and is always mediated by our coordination team to facilitate communication and establish the foundation for the relationship.
Step 6 – Medical Preparation for Embryo Transfer
Once the surrogate-parents team is formed, we begin the medical preparation for embryo transfer:
- Menstrual cycle control
- Hormonal medication to prepare the endometrium
- Ongoing evaluations via ultrasounds and lab tests
At the same time, a healthy embryo is selected for transfer (if there are multiple embryos), in collaboration with the fertility team.
Step 7 – Support Throughout the Pregnancy
Our commitment goes far beyond the embryo transfer. During the 9 months of pregnancy, the surrogate receives:
- Prenatal care from specialists
- Periodic psychological evaluations
- Emotional and logistical support
- Ongoing monitoring to ensure all contractual agreements are upheld
We also promote contact with the intended parents according to what was agreed upon, to encourage a shared and respectful experience.
Step 8 – The Birth: Closing the Process, Beginning a Story
The birth is the most emotional and meaningful moment. Our legal and medical team ensures:
- Support at delivery in a safe and authorized hospital
- Comfort and privacy for both the surrogate and the parents
From this point on, the intended parents continue with their newborn, while the surrogate receives postnatal follow-up to ensure her physical and emotional recovery.
Our Commitment
At Surrogate Mexico, every surrogate is much more than a participant in the process. She is a brave, generous, and conscious woman whom we care for, respect, and honor at every stage.
That’s why our selection and support system is one of the most complete in Mexico and Latin America, backed by proven success, transparent processes, and an interdisciplinary team that firmly believes in everyone’s right to build a family.
If you are considering surrogacy as your path to having a child, we want you to know that at Surrogate Mexico, you are in good hands—and that the woman who will carry your baby will be chosen with the greatest care, respect, and commitment possible.
